Terroir

The soil is predominantly calcareous and clayey, rich in iron and minerals, often containing stones and fossils that force the vine roots to work hard to find nutrients, favoring the production of full-bodied and flavorful wines, such as the celebrated Negroamaro and Primitivo.

Clime

The Salento terroir is characterized by a warm, dry Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, and by sea breezes that moderate temperatures and preserve the freshness of the grapes.

Grapes

Negroamaro: The most famous indigenous grape, whose name means “dark and bitter,” ideal for producing intense rosé and red wines characterized by ripe fruit and salinity.
Primitivo: An intense, warm, and enveloping red wine with soft tannins and a lingering finish, produced from grapes with a high sugar content.
